An easy fall appetizer that consists of flaky puff pastry, creamy brie, and some topped with fig preserves and some topped with red pepper jelly. The perfect balance of sweet and savory to appeal to the whole crowd!

ingredients on kitchen counter

When I was in college my parents started a trend for when I would come home and visit. They called it Veranda Time. They would prepare appetizers, which was whatever was on hand at the moment (think cheese and crackers, bread and tapenades, hummus and veggies, etc). We would all pour a glass of wine, gather the appys, and would sit on the veranda and discuss the week. This quickly became my favorite thing ever! Just sitting around with food, vino, and family- what more could you ask for!

This is the perfect fall veranda time appetizer! Fig preserves and rosemary, red pepper jelly and brie. It all comes together so nicely and would be delicious addition to any fun event, or weeknight girl dinner! 🙂

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375
  2. Unroll thawed puff pastry and cut into 2.5″ squares and place into mini muffin tin
  3. Add a piece of brie to each puff pastry square
  4. Top half with 1/2 tablespoon fig preserves and the other half with 1/2 tablespoon red pepper jelly
  5. Bake for 16-20 minutes until the puff pastry is golden. If your oven runs hot, keep a watch to ensure the puff pastry doesn’t burn
  6. After removing from the oven top the fig bites with chopped walnuts & rosemary, and the pepper jelly bites with the chopped sesame sticks
  7. Let the bites cool for 5 minutes, then use a spoon to scoop onto a tray

Notes:

  • Place the muffin tin on top of a cookie sheet in case the brie runs over
  • If the brie and toppings run over, don’t worry! You can use a spoon to push the contents back into the puff pastry cup
  • The brie bites are great warm or room temp! If you want to heat back up just put them back into the muffin tin and put on 175 for 10-15 minutes.
  • Puff pastry typically comes in a box of two rolls, so it would be very easy to double this recipe! 🙂
